“As a nurse, I’ve seen that being compassionate and empathetic are key to patient trust and building a good relationship.”
Before joining Griffin Concierge Medical in 2015, I worked at St. Anthony’s hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. I started my career working as an insurance adjuster. It was quickly apparent that working in the insurance industry was not a job I would enjoy making a career out of. I went back and got a Bachelor’s of Nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing. I’ve been working as a nurse since 2011.
When I saw patients at the hospital I always tried to remember that they are in a strange place and they don’t feel well. It’s an uncomfortable position. I think really trying empathize with the patient is a good way to build a relationship founded on trust.
In the past, I have worked in acute care, which has very little patient follow-up. I am excited to be a part of Griffin Concierge Medical practice, because this practice allows me to really get to know patients and develop on-going relationships with them. At Griffin Concierge Medical, I can really understand my patients’ lives, not just their medical concerns but their family situation, their social life, their stresses and how these relate to their health. It’s a lot more personable.
